Insomnia

The moon hangs heavy, inky sky,
Ethereal glow upon my chamber high,
Yet sleep eludes, my weary eyes,
Refuse to close, a restless guise.

My mind, a captive, thoughts take flight,
Like fireflies dance in fading light.
Exhaustion weighs, a heavy cost,
On muscle, bone, sleep’s promise lost.

I stand as sentinel, days untold,
Denied the peace, respite’s hold.
Day’s anxieties fade and cease,
Replaced by quiet, lacking peace.

A whisper haunts, a task undone,
A duty missed, a shadow spun.
This obligation, undefined,
A spectral presence in my mind.

It chills me deep, this unseen force,
My mind imprisoned, dreams divorced.
I yearn for sleep, a distant plea,
For rest that seems beyond my decree.

A captive of the night I dwell,
Eyes open, thoughts a swirling spell,
Until the dawn with painted hue,
Offers hope, sleep’s rendezvous.

When shadows flee the rising sun,
Perhaps release will then be won.
Until that time, I persevere,
A sentinel, in moonlight’s sphere.

The Ghost of You Still Haunts My Days

The ghost of you still haunts my days,
A phantom limb, a lingering gaze.
Our fractured bond, a shattered pane,
Reflecting loss, and endless rain.

I know I erred, my flaws laid bare,
But can’t you see I truly care?
I’ve changed, I’ve grown, I’ve learned the cost,
Yet still I cling to what is lost.

Why can’t you see beyond the past?
Forgive the hurt, let healing cast
A balm upon the wounds we share,
And mend the rift with loving care?

My mind replays each cherished scene,
Our laughter shared, a joyful sheen.
But memories mock, a cruel embrace,
A constant ache, an empty space.

I know I should move on, forget,
But your shadow lingers, a silhouette.
Obsessed, I trace your every line,
A prisoner of this love of mine.

Release me, please, from this despair,
Or grant me one more chance to share
The person I have come to be,
And find redemption, set me free.

The Words Pile up, a Lonely Cairn

The Words Pile up, a Lonely Cairn
The woes of a lonely indie writer, about to give up.

The words pile up, a lonely cairn
On pages blank, a barren plain.
She writes and writes, with passion deep,
But no eyes see, no hearts will keep.
Her stories yearn, her poems sing,
Of love and loss, of everything.
But silence greets each heartfelt line,
A symphony unheard, a hidden shrine.
The ink bleeds dry, the paper frayed,
Her soul exposed, her spirit flayed.
The doubt creeps in, a chilling blight,
“Is this all worth the lonely fight?”
Yet still she writes, with stubborn grace,
A fire burning in its secret place.
For even unread, the words hold power,
A testament to every passing hour.
Though no one sees, she’ll still create,
A world of words, her own estate.
For in the writing, she is free,
A writer writing, eternally.

The ache begins, a subtle sting,
A whisper in the heart’s soft wing.
A memory floats, a face, a place,
A longing for a warm embrace.

The laughter shared, the stories told,
Around the hearth, in days of old.
Familiar scents, a loving touch,
Missed so dearly, oh, so much.

The miles stretch out, a ribbon long,
Separating where I belong.
A yearning grows, a heavy weight,
To be with them, before too late.

But time moves on, the world keeps turning,
And hope remains, a candle burning.
For in my heart, they’re always near,
Their love a balm, dispelling fear.

And though I miss them, every one,
I know we’re still connected, bound as one.
Until we meet, I’ll hold them tight,
Within my soul, their guiding light.

A Soul Connection, in This Lonely Space.

The quiet hum of an empty room,
Aching with silence, shrouded in gloom.
A longing for laughter, a shared embrace,
A soul connection, in this lonely space.

To find a friend, a kindred spirit true,
Whose words bring comfort, whose thoughts shine through.
Someone to message, without a second thought,
Whose conversations leave my spirit caught.

To share the mundane, the dreams, the fears,
To wipe away the lonely, silent tears.
A bond unbreakable, a trust so deep,
Knowing my secrets, they’ll forever keep.

But fear whispers doubts, a constant refrain,
“Will I be too much? Will they feel the strain?”
The need for connection battles the dread,
Of being a burden, words left unsaid.

Yet hope flickers still, a tiny flame,
That somewhere out there, someone feels the same.
A yearning for friendship, a hand to hold,
A story waiting, waiting to unfold.

❄Snow….Snow…Snow…❄

❄Snow….Snow…Snow…❄

The forecast calls for flurries, a chance, a dusting slight,
But my old heart yearns for blizzards, a swirling, snowy night.
I check the app obsessively, refreshing every hour,
Hoping those little flakes amass, become a wintry power.

The ground is bare and brown, the sky a dreary gray,
My inner child is stamping feet, impatient for the day
When drifts will pile up high against the window pane,
And the world transforms to magic, a pristine, white domain.

I know I’m not a youngster, with snow days free and bright,
But something in that frozen dance sets my old soul alight.
The quiet hush it brings upon the land, a peaceful, soft embrace,
Erases all the worries etched upon my timeworn face.

So let it snow, let it snow, let it pile up to the sky,
These weary bones will marvel as the flakes go whirling by.
I’ll watch from my warm window, with cocoa in my hand,
And dream of childhood winters in this snowy wonderland.

They Leave, They Return

A friend, I thought, a bond so true,
A shared laugh, a knowing view.
But shadows fall, and anger flares,
Leaving silence, and empty chairs.

They leave, they go, a slammed door’s sound,
A gaping hole in solid ground.
Then back they come, with outstretched hand,
As if no chasm spanned the land.

Close they draw, with whispered plea,
To mend the bridge, just you and me.
But fear takes hold, a whispered doubt,
How to trust when hearts fall out?

Kindness calls, a gentle guide,
To offer grace, to turn the tide.
But wounds remain, a fragile scar,
A fear of falling, near or far.

To build anew, on shifting sand,
A house of cards, at their command.
The yearning heart, a hopeful plea,
For lasting bonds, for you and me.

Yet cycles turn, the pattern set,
A bitter taste of what you get.
The push, the pull, the constant ache,
But you never let go, you never give up.

Dear Friend

A dear friend, though miles may lie between,
And days may pass where words are rarely seen,
Know that in my thoughts, you hold a constant space,
A cherished bond, time cannot erase.

Like stars that gleam in skies of deepest night,
Your presence shines, a beacon ever bright.
Though daily chatter may not fill the air,
My heart holds fast, with love and silent care.

Through life’s meandering path, where’er we roam,
Our connection strong, a soul-deep, guiding home.
And when the shadows fall, or storms arise,
My hand reaches out, to where your spirit lies.

For friendship’s truth transcends the spoken word,
A loyal heart, in every beat is heard.
So trust in this, though silence may descend,
My love remains, until the very end.
