Why Can’t Women Support Others and Not be Jealous.
They say we are sisters, but I see
Only rivals, who compete for the prize,
For the man, or the job, or the praise
That will make us feel worthy, at last.
We tear each other down with our words,
Our looks, our actions, our very presence,
For we know that if we let one of us succeed,
It will mean that we have to fail.
So we claw and we scratch and we bite,
And we do whatever it takes to win,
For we know that if we don’t, we will lose
To the other woman, who is just as mean.
We are the daughters of Eve, they say,
And we are cursed to compete with each other,
But I say that is a lie, and a curse
That we can break, if we choose to.
So let us stop competing, and start supporting,
Let us lift each other up, instead of tearing down,
For when we do that, we all win,
And the world becomes a better place.
