The Shadow in the Room

That’s how you see me, a shadow in the room,
A silent fixture amidst the gathering gloom,
Tracing the edges of a space I cannot claim,
A ghost in the hallway, a face without a name.

My words mean nothing, they drift like falling leaves,
Unheard and unvalued, while my spirit grieves,
I speak into the vacuum of your cold indifference,
Finding no echo, no bridge, no deliverance.

My heart means nothing, it’s a pulse, a quiet plea,
For a glimmer of worth that you refuse to see,
Beating against the cage of your neglectful gaze,
Lost in the fog of these hollow, endless days.

You do what you want, in your self-centered tide,
With little care for me, or the pain I must hide,
Sweeping through the hours with a callous disregard,
While I am left to mend what you have torn and scarred.

Significance fades, I am sealed by fate,
An afterthought wrapped in isolation’s state,
Waiting on the periphery of your vibrant world,
Like a banner forgotten, forever left unfurled.

Until you need something, a favor to lend,
Then I am important, a convenient friend,
Suddenly the shadow gains a sudden, sharp light,
And I am summoned briefly from the edge of the night.

But as soon as your hunger for utility is fed,
Then I am gone once more, words left unsaid,
The transaction is over, the warmth begins to cool,
Leaving me standing here, a discarded tool.

Discarded and forgotten, in the dark I stay,
Watching the slow erosion of my soul each day,
A cycle of presence that only serves your whim,
As the light of my value grows increasingly dim.

The Haunting Obsession

It occupies my vision,
A phantom on the breeze,
The only sound I hear,
A lingering disease.

It hollows out my thoughts
And commands the quiet night;
I cannot sleep or eat,
Obliterating light.

I’m obsessed and possessed,
A willing, broken prize,
I harbor the infection
Behind my staring eyes.

It suffocates the air,
A heavy, rising tide.
I’m losing who I am
With nowhere left to hide.

I scream for an escape,
A way to break the spell,
But I am just a ghost
Inhabiting this hell.

Writing

I am writing the last book in my series The Shadow Realm Chronicles and I got so excited over one chapter that I wrote this poem. I am so excited for people to read this and see this world I created.

The thrill of the blank page,
A canvas unmarred,
A world of possibilities
Awaiting my pen.

The spark of an idea,
A spark that ignites
A firestorm of creativity
That rages within.

The words flow like water,
The thoughts flow like wine,
And I am lost in the moment,
In the flow of the rhyme.

Time stands still as I write,
The world fades away,
And I am transported to another place,
Another time.

I am the author of my own story,
The creator of my own world,
And I am filled with excitement
At the possibilities.

The Shadow Realm Chronicles: Maeve (Coming soon)

Chapter 1 The Great War

Many years ago, darkness tore apart the worlds. They called it the Great War, for it was massive and involved all the realms of each world. Enemies on either side grew their armies for battle with heavy casualties. New allies formed out of this bloodshed while old ones crumbled.

The world of the Faye changed forever as their king descended into madness. His name was Julian. He once was a loving ruler, but those times were long gone. The pages written of him now are full of rage, blood, and hatred. Hatred for his children who grew to love others and revolt against him and his rule. Hatred for his wife, who fled with his children and hatred for all the realms that were not under his rule. Julian needed his children because they were powerful. Each one controlled one of the four elements: wind, water, earth, and fire. Even though his children hated what he had become, they remembered the good in him and were perhaps the only ones besides their mother who did.

Marius, the leader of the vampires and Jonathan, the ruler of The Shadow Realm, fought alongside Julian, but they did not trust him. Each of these three men was scheming against each other as they all wanted to come out the victor.

Jonathan had many plans and plots forming in his head, but they all revolved around Maeve. Maeve was a fairy, but she lived in a quiet world. The one world that was protected from the Great War. Jonathan didn’t care what Julian or Marius did as long as it didn’t inter- fere with his plan but interfere was what they did best. Jonathan had great plans for Maeve and her family, but he knew little of her connections to Julian’s family.

The Great War might have been over, but another one was looming in the distance, and it all began with a lonely mother named Maeve.
