Open Ears, and Open Mind

Open Ears, and Open Mind

Self-reflection is a powerful tool. Lately, I’ve realized that maybe I’ve been too critical of others’ actions, and perhaps my attempts to help haven’t always landed well. Instead of controlling situations, I want to be more supportive. My desire to help shouldn’t come at the cost of respecting boundaries. While helping is important, learning from past experiences will help me offer support more effectively. I’ll continue to lend a hand, but with a more open mind and less judgment.

The walls we build, of thought and stone,
To keep the world familiar, known.
But truths untold may lie outside,
In paths we dare not open wide.

The tongue that’s quick to judge and scorn,
Misses the wisdom newly born.
For every path, however strange,
Holds beauty in a different range.

Let down the bars of black and white,
Embrace the spectrum, shining bright.
A melody with notes unknown,
Can paint a world yet to be shown.

Respect the choices, though unlike,
For in that difference, hearts ignite.
A tapestry of lives entwined,
Strength in the threads, of every kind.

So open ears, and open mind,
Let understanding be entwined.
For in the garden, blooms so bright,
Each flower adds its unique light.

Look in the Mirror and See Yourself Clear

If everyone tries to get away from you,
Maybe you are the problem, it’s true.

Take a step back and reflect on your ways,
For change is the only path to better days.

Look in the mirror and see yourself clear,
Identify the traits that you hold so dear.
Are you kind and compassionate, supportive and true?
Or do you bring others down, with words and deeds so shrewd?

If you’re honest with yourself, you’ll see the light,
And find the courage to make things right.
Apologize to those you’ve wronged, and start anew,
With a heart open to love, and a spirit true.

Remember that change takes time, so be patient and kind.
Be the person you want to be, and leave the past behind.
With effort and dedication, you’ll see a transformation,
And attract the friendships you long for, with admiration.

So don’t despair if everyone tries to get away,
See it as an opportunity to change, come what may.
Become the best version of yourself, inside and out,
And the right people will come into your life, without a doubt.

Slow Down, Close Your Eyes

 When your mind is cloudy,
When your head wants to rest,
And all you can do is worry,
About all the things that are a mess.

The work you need to do.
The places you need to go.
But your mind needs to rest.
Your head needs a pillow
And you need to stop.

Slow down, close your eyes.
Take a breath, it’s okay to stop.
Slow down, close your eyes.
Take a breath, it’s okay to stop.

Feeling guilty
When I rest my head.
When I need more sleep.
When I can’t go on, I need to rest.

Slow down, close your eyes.
Take a breath, it’s okay to stop.
