To Keep a Promise

To Keep a Promise
A promise is something sweet,
A caring gesture of friendship and love.
Sincere thoughts and a heartfelt vow,
A pledge of honor and faith.

When promises are broken and friendships shattered,
What once was in your heart is now blackened by lies.
How far do you go to recapture that trust?
What will you do to regain that love?

The vow and the faith you once had,
Why do you keep your promise when others do not?
Should you mend something that is broken?
How do you fix The friendship all in ruins,
A trust that is a dilapidated mess?

How far will you go to keep a promise of a friendship long gone?

Our Friendship is Over You Say

Our Friendship is Over, You Say?
Our friendship is over, you say.
You claim foul,
But you pushed me away.

I used to cry, wondering why?
What's wrong with me?
What did I do to make you leave?

Now I know it is not me, but you!
You are the one with the problem!
If you say our friendship is over,
Did we ever have one?

I know what friendship looks like,
And this is not it.

When Friendship Was a Lie

I stood by and watched
And I didn't say anything
And  sometimes I looked away

My lips never moving
My voice never making a sound
In protest to your plight

I never stood up and never spoke out
I sat at my desk and watched and listened
But never spoke out in your defense

My heart hurt of the things they did
My heart ached and I saw how they made you
But too afraid to move

So many people hurt and none of us could move
We let them decide who we were
And let them decide what we do

Vile, heart retching acts and still, I did nothing
We just followed the crowd
And now all we have is regret.

Where are you now?
Will you forgive those who hurt you
And those who just stood by
Will you forgive me?

My Friend

How do I trust you, my friend?
How do I know the things you say are true?
How do I trust you, my friend?
How do I know the love we share is true?

Will you have my back?
Will you keep your word?
Will you fight for me, when I'm not around?
Will you help me when I fall?
Will lift me up and not tear me down?

How do I trust you, my friend?
How do I know the things you say are true?
How do I trust you, my friend?
How do I know the love we share is true?

Will I have your back?
Will I keep my word?
Will I fight for you, when you're not around?
Will I help you when you fall?
Will I lift you up and not tear you down?

How do I trust you, my friend?
How do I know the things you say are true?
How do I trust you, my friend?
How do I know the love we share is true?

I will have your back!
I will keep my word!
I will fight for you!
I will help you when you fall!
I will lift you up and not tear you down!
And you will know the love we share is true!

Trust No One

This is a poem about losing a friend. Sometimes we grieve a friend we lost but sometimes we grieve the friendship that was never there. It makes it difficult for us to open up again, but we need to be open. If we are not, then we lose the chance of making a real friend.

No one to trust

Nowhere to go
I roam the streets looking
For help, for trust, for someone
To believe me and take me in

My heart is empty and hurt
From the pain of losing you
Losing what I thought was
Trust, hope and a friend

Naïve and stupid, now I trust no one
Are they all lies?

I Lost

I lost
People I thought I would have forever.
I lost
Chats and talks I thought I would always have.
I lost
Though how do I get it all back, and do I even want it all back?
Socially impaired.
No idea how to make or keep friends.
Socially Impaired.
With the world so busy, and my mind so confused.
Socially impaired.
In this world of confusion.

How do you move an acquaintance to a friend or a friend to a good friend?
How does one keep friends and how does one make friends?
I lost a sense of myself and my own desires.
I lost the nuances and gestures that help others to figure this out.

I was lost, but now I am found.
I Found
Strength in myself that I will have forever.
I found
Chats and talks I will have forever.
I found
I love that will not quit and I never have to wonder where it went.
